Yu Tian and me are close friends and colleagues with a lot in common . Beside the admiration to each others hobbies, we share the same spiritual consonance. We are both from the south, but born in the north, and finally settled down in Shanghai. We still bear the cynicism of childhood, humble outside and irritable inside, intolerable of unethical things and indignant of injustice. We like to study but not for fame, prefer hobby to profession and live in city but enjoy the life in the wild.

I happened to have a courtyard in a remote corner of Songshan Mountain, similar to Bai Juyi's description in his poem about Songshan. The poem says: " A gang of slovenly friends are enjoying the grasslands and water in the cool flower-scented air. Moon drops to the wine glass. Breeze touching the pines plays a beautiful music. The healthy bodies in beautiful scenery feel the summer cool and refreshing. We feel like earthly fairies riding cranes in the heaven." In the spring of that year, I invited Yutian for a visit, and as expected he came with his whole family. In the cold, we crowded in big bed with little lamps. To save water we even gave up taking shower. We enjoyed the hardships, appreciated the scenery, explored the historic sites and lingered in the mountains and forests. For many years after that, Yutian would come whenever free, taking mountains and ravines as stage, trees and grass as instruments, the sound of nature as music, and never stop.

2020, the Chinese year of rat arrived. I assumed Yutian had composed his piece and proposed a joint exhibition. He cheerly accepted.

All of a sudden, the corona virus came. Taking the advantage of the quarantine , I stepped through peaks and gullies of Songshan and visited the young bushes and old trees. Finally I realized my own central mountain.

Now, both the imageand audio ready and the two friends works in one, we could expect an outstanding audio-visual feast.
